ABBI & NBBA STRIKE CO-SANCTIONING AGREEMENT $10,000 Bonus Bull Award Added PUEBLO, COLO. (January 31, 2011)– The American Bucking Bull, Inc. (ABBI) and National Bucking Bull Association (NBBA) proudly announced today that they have finalized and struck a Co-Sanctioning Agreement for the 2011 Competition Season. This landmark event marks the first time the two organizations have sanctioned events together. The first two co-sanctioned events will both be held in Texas. The Second Annual ABBI Spring Fling, produced by Boyd & Floyd Bull Co., will be the first event. It will be held April 22-23 at the Lone Star Arena in Stephenville. The second event, produced by Bar F Productions, Inc., is the Fifth Annual NBBA Texas Bash. It will take place June 18 at the Somervell County Expo Center in Glen Rose. There will be a $10,000 Bull Bonus paid by Boyd & Floyd Bull Co. & Bar F Productions, Inc. to the futurity bull with the highest combined score from the two events. “Our goal has always been to grow the sport and to provide our members with as many opportunities as possible to earn money,” said ABBI President Brad Boyd. “Marty Foutch and I each put up an extra $5,000 because we are really excited about this opportunity and want to get as many breeders as possible involved in these unique events.” Foutch and Boyd began talking about the possibility of co-sanctioning events last year. “Brad Boyd and I began discussions on this opportunity in April of 2010 when there were over 200 bulls competing in Stephenville on the same weekend,” explained NBBA President Marty Foutch. “Details have been in the works and we started finalizing things in September. We wanted to get this deal done so much that we actually dropped our Fifth Annual event at Will Rogers on April 23 in order to make this work.” “I’m glad we have been able to work together with the NBBA,” stated Boyd. “What’s good for our members is good for us. This means that those two weekends in Texas will feature the best young bucking bulls in the world and will give breeders an added opportunity to earn points in both organizations.” “As the President of the NBBA I am happy to have the deal going. I think this is a great opportunity for bull owners and breeders--two of the largest and longest-standing organizations coming together to produce these elite events,” shared Foutch. “As a bull breeder and owner, it is a great concept to be able to pay one entry fee and earn points for both associations’ finals. It basically saves two trips on our bulls!” This agreement creates two more elite events for bucking bull breeders. “Breeders attending these events can gain points towards both organizations’ finals and year-end awards with one trip from their bulls—and it will add thousands of dollars to both the ABBI and NBBA finals,” explained Glenn Carlton, NBBA Vice President. The ABBI Spring Fling event produced by Boyd & Floyd Bull Co. will be governed by all ABBI Standing Rules and Guidelines, using the ABBI-approved bucking dummy as well as the ABBI-approved judging system, with the exceptions listed. The NBBA Texas Bash event produced by Bar F Productions, Inc. will be governed by all NBBA Standing Rules and Guidelines using the NBBA-approved bucking dummy as well as the NBBA-approved judging system with the exceptions listed. The following Guidelines will apply to both co-sanctioned events: All owners must be current year members of both associations and in good standing. All bulls competing in co-sanctioned events MUST be ABBI Registered. All bulls will buck for 5 seconds in these co-sanctioned events. At the ABBI Spring Fling event the Blue Bucking Dummy will be used. At the NBBA Texas Bash event the green Buck Em All Dummy will be used. All bulls entering co-sanctioned events will NOT be required to have an EID tag in place, HOWEVER all money-earning bulls at these co-sanctioned events will be mouthed on site by an ABBI/NBBA official event veterinarian. The official event veterinarian’s ruling will be final. Any bull mouthed who does not have an EID tag will have a tag inserted at that time. Any bull earning points at the co-sanctioned events without an EID tag in place who does not qualify for mandatory mouthing will be required to have an EID tag in place prior to participating (if qualified) in the ABBI Finals. All bulls will enter paying one entry fee while earning points for both associations’ finals. For more information contact the ABBI at 719-242-2747 or visit americanbuckingbull.com. The NBBA can be reached at 903-848-4150 and nbbabulls.com. ABBI is the leading bucking cattle DNA registry in the world. The ABBI holds and sanctions competitive events for Classic (3 and 4-year-old) and Futurity (2-year-old) bucking bulls. ABBI paid out over $1.7 million dollars in 2010. Over $800,000 was paid out in prize money to ABBI bulls at the 2010 Las Vegas ABBI Finals alone. The National Bucking Bull Association is a non-profit organization founded by and for Bucking Bull Breeders. The NBBA has for its basic purpose the public exhibition and promotion of the bucking bull as a unique athlete. The NBBA paid out $952,760 in 2010.
