The NBBA Youth Division was implemented into the 2006 NBBA Season. The NBBA Youth Division is an opportunity for the Youth Breeders to participate in NBBA Futurities along with their Families.
The NBBA feels the Youth Division is important because they (Youth) are the Future of our Industry, therefore we must provide them an opportunity to compete on a level of their own. In doing so, the NBBA is encouraging moral character and good sportsmanship skills as well as learning the responsibility of the day to day caring for their bulls.
In a recent article NBBA President Marty Foutch was quoted as saying "When you come to an NBBA event, it is family-oriented. The dads, the kids and the wives are all there. I think our greatest accomplishment is getting the Youth involved and the families and we want this involvement to continue to grow."
In 2007 the NBBA is striving to develop a prestigious awards program to be presented based on the Youth demonstrating good sportsmanship throughout the year in winning or losing; showing respect to their fellow Youth competitors; demonstrating leadership abilities. In addition, we are currently working on a Scholarship Program to be offered to the NBBA Youth Competitors in 2007.
In 2006 the NBBA implemented the Youth Division in the NBBA Futurity Events.
The Youth Division will be for NBBA Youth Members 18 years of age or younger. The Bulls must be ABBI Registered OR DNA Verified through the NBBA, in the competing NBBA Youth Members Name or in the competing NBBA Youth Members' family or ranch name.
Bulls competing in the Youth Division may not compete in the Open or Novice Futurities. If a bull is entered in the Open or Novice Futurities he will no longer be eligible to compete in the Youth Division.
The NBBA Youth Members must at all times have an adult accompany them when behind the bucking chutes. It is not mandatory that the NBBA Youth Member flank their own bulls. *Complete Rules and Guidelines are outlined in the NBBA Standing Rules and Bylaws.
